MNI POLICY: BOJ, MOF, FSA Officials To Meet Later Friday

Authorities to discuss development of recent financial markets

Senior officials at the Bank of Japan, the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Services Agency will hold a regular meeting from 1600 JST (0700 GMT) to exchange views on the financial markets.

The BOJ executive director in charge of monetary policy Shinichi Uchida, along with assistant governor Tokiko Shimizu, who is also executive director in charge of international affairs, will attend the meeting.

The Nikkei stock index closed at 21,710.00, down 629.23 points, or 2.82%, from Thursday's close, below the 22,000 level for the first time in a month. Dollar-yen traded at around JPY104.35, the lowest level in more than four months.
