MNI POLICY: China Seeks Stable US Relations Despite Attacks

Foreign Minister Wang Told French Counterpart US, China Should Communicate

MNI (Sydney)

China will seek to maintain stable relations with the U.S. through equal dialogue and exchange despite attempts by a small anti-China faction to upturn bilateral cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi said in discussions with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian.

The root of the current Sino-US tensions comes from the fact that some U.S. political interests are acting out of a need to secure election and maintain hegemony, challenging China's core interests and "attacking China from all directions," Wang said in a transcript released by Xinhua News Agency.

"China and the U.S. should communicate rationally," Wang said, adding that China will not allow "ideological biases" to damage the further development of China-U.S. relations.

As the U.S. moves further down the unilateral path, carrying the "America First" banner, it has become the biggest saboteur to the current global order and stands against history and global communities, Wang said.
