MNI BRIEF: China To Boost Demand, Remain Global Player: Lui He

MNI (Beijing)

China will continue with plans to boost international cooperation, promote reform and improve global economic governance, Vice Premier Li He told a forum in Beijing earlier Thursday. The country will remain fully open to the outside world whilst looking to further boost the domestic economic recovery, Liu told the opening of the Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2020.

The economy has recovered well from the trough in H1, with overall GDP growth of 0.7% in the first three quarters. Investment and trade indicators are showing evident improvement, he added, with positive growth for the whole year "highly probable". China's middle-income groups offer potential for further growth, Liu said.

Alongside that, China will continue to pursue a flexible and prudent monetary policy, with reasonable and abundant liquidity, helping to maintain policy stability, Liu said.
