MNI POLICY: ECB To Announce Timing, Scope of Strategic Review

     FRANKFURT (MNI) - The European Central Bank will announce the scope and
timetable of its strategic monetary policy review later today, and said it would
hold key interest rates at their current level.
     A statement on the details of the ECB review, its first since 2003, will be
given by President Christine Lagarde during the press conference following
today's meeting of the Governing Council.
     The announcement was made at the same time as January's monetary policy
decision was published, with further details of the review to be communicated in
a press release at 15:30 CET.
     There were no changes to the policy package announced in September, and no
significant deviations from the language used in December's Governing Council
decision.
