Monday 27 March:

  • Israel: Major protests continue against the proposed judicial reforms of PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. A general strike has seen airports, hospitals, restaurants and shops close or reduce service amid a growing expectation that Netanyahu will announce a pausing of the reforms, despite objections from hard-liners in the governing coalition. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has stated that despite the disarray, he plans to go ahead with a preliminary vote in the Knesset (parliament) on a ’responsible’ 2023-24 budget today.
