US
  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told reporters yesterday that the final text of the long-awaited border security package will be released as soon as today, or as late as Sunday.
  • The US has announced a new Executive Action to tackle violence in the West Bank as the Biden administration's “multi-tiered” response to Sunday's lethal attack on US personnel in Jordan takes shape. • President Biden travelled to Detroit, Michigan yesterday to drum up union support and head-off discontent amongst Arab Americans over Biden’s Middle East strategy. Considering Biden's narrow 154,000 vote margin in Michigan in 2020, the roughly 280,000 strong Arab American community in the state could be critical to Biden’s re-election prospects in November.
  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) warned reporters yesterday against expecting quick Senate action on the House-passed bipartisan tax bill.
  • House Rep Ken Buck (R-CO) told reporters yesterday that he’s a “solid no” on impeaching DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, leaving Speaker Johnson with a possible one-vote margin.
  • President Biden spoke with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen yesterday to “applaud,” EU approval of 50 billion euros of Ukraine aid.
