MNI: The US trade deficit for the month of March grew to -#44.4 billion, up from
-$39.9b in February. The increase in the deficit was just over market
expectations for a -$44.2 billion deficit. March exports fell by -9.6% to $187.7
billion, driven by export drops in crude oil and petroleum products (-$1.9
billion), automotive vehicles and parts (-$2.5 billion), and capital goods
(-$2.0). Imports for March fell by -6.2% to $232.2 billion, marking a decline in
consumer goods (-$4.0 billion), and automotive vehicles and parts (-$2.7
billion). The US trade deficit with China dropped by -$4.2 billion to $15.5
billion in March as exports increased $0.3 billion to $7.8 billion and imports
fell -$3.9 billion to $23.3 billion.
