More Fuel Tankers Avoid Suez Canal Route

At least two vessels carrying fuel from the Middle East to Europe appeared to have diverted away from the Red Sea, following the latest Houthi attack that hit a fuel-tanker according to Kpler data, cited by Bloomberg.

  • The Minerva Pacifica and Advantage Porto Cervo – both carrying Middle Eastern fuel and booked by Kuwait Petroleum Corp – were signalling the Suez Canal last weekend but now appear to be diverting around the Cape of Good Hope.
  • In addition, the Aframax Free Spirit, which is carrying oil from South Sudan, made a u-turn in the southern Red Sea close to the Bab el-Mandeb on Friday, shortly after the attack on the Russian-laden fuel tanker.
