More Polling Signal Biden May Be Losing Black Voters In Swing States

US

A survey from the Wall Street Journal has found that more Black men intend to vote for former President Donald Trump in swings states than elsewhere in the country at the presidential election - more data which suggests that one of the most historically Democrat-leaning demographic blocs may not be assured for Biden in November.

  • WSJ notes, "While most Black men said they intend to support Biden, some 30% of them in the poll said they were either definitely or probably going to vote for the former Republican president," noting that "Trump received votes from 12% of Black men nationwide," in 2020.
  • Adrianne Shropshire, head of BlackPAC, a Democratic super PAC, said: “In this particular election, the persuasion isn’t just to vote or not to vote. The persuasion is actually to get people to come to Biden and away from third parties and away from Trump.”
  • The poll follows a New York Times Siena College poll which found that 22 percent of Black voters in six swings states saying they would vote for Trump.
