MPC's Iwona Duda Says It's Too Early To Discuss Rate Cuts

Polish central banker Iwona Duda told Reuters that it is too early to discuss rate cuts, even though inflation is expected to slow sharply in the coming quarters.

  • "In my opinion, it is still too early to start discussing potential interest rate cuts. The uncertainty is too high."
  • "We are still determined to lower inflation in the medium term. The incoming data confirm that the MPC's decisions in recent months were correct."
  • Duda noted that the central bank's estimates suggest that the rate hikes implemented to date should reduce inflation by around 2.8pp this year.
