New Def Min: New 5-Yr Plan For Strengthening Defence Capabilities

Wires carrying comments from newly-installed Defence Minister Yasukazu Hamada, states that his ministry is planning to strengthen Japan's defence capabilities within the next five years.

  • Adds that a prominent focus is to fortify defences to Japan's southwest (i.e. towards Taiwan).
