New Survey Shows KO In Pole Position

POLAND
  • A new IBRIS/Rzeczpospolita opinion poll showed that the Civic Coalition (KO) has cemented its lead and can boast the support of 32.6% of voters. The former ruling Law and Justice (PiS) took second place with 30.1%, while the Third Way had 14.7%. If a parliamentary election was held today, the Left (8.7%) and Confederation (7.6%) would also make it into the lower house. There is broad perception that Law and Justice is on the defensive ahead of the upcoming local and European elections.
  • President Andrzej Duda returned from a summit in Paris noting that the issue of potential future deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine provoked a "heated discussion," but there was "absolutely no consensus" and "no enthusiasm" among leaders.
  • Money.pl reported that the NBP recorded a financial loss of nearly PLN21bn last year. The ruling coalition accuses the NBP Governor of misleading the government by providing a forecast of a PLNbn profit, which fed into the 2024 budget.
