No Breakthrough on S-400s from Biden-Erdogan Meeting, CHP Calls for Early Election

  • No breakthrough in US-Turkey ties as Erdogan says S-400s stance remains unchanged, but was unclear whether Erdogan would be taking delivery of the second batch of missiles.
    • Aside from this, the meeting was deemed to be productive with both sides' teams to continue discussions.
    • Erdogan did press biden to end YPG/PKK support but overall the meeting seemed amiable with positive discussions on Afghanistan cooperation
  • Erdogan and Greek PM have cordial meeting at NATO Summit, "breaking the ice" between them with Erdogan saying renewed dialogue would benefit stability and prosperity in the region.
    • Erdogan also met UK's Johnson & Germany's Merkel to discuss Turkey-EU relations and the Cyprus issue
  • CHP repeats calls for early elections saying that if Erdogan cannot take responsibility for the AKP's failures and continues to blame the opposition, he must leave his seat.
    • IYI and CHP have been pressing for early elections, saying the AKP cannot solve Turkey's economic crisis – but the AKP has dismissed these attempts.
