No Expectation Of Change On Grain Exports After Putin-Erdogan Talks

Wires reporting comments from an unnamed senior Ukrainian gov't source stating that the gov't 'does not expect its grain import situation to change after Putin-Erdogan talks on Monday.' Following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 4 September, the former stated that Russia had withdrawn from the deal in July due to the West failing to implement its side of the bargain with relation to allowing the safe export of Russia agricultural products and fertilisers.

  • Putin: "We will be ready to consider the possibility of reviving the grain deal and I told Mr President about this again today – we will do this as soon as all the agreements on lifting restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products are fully implemented."
