No More Polls Until Post-1st Round, Kast & Boric Favourites For Run-Off
Right-wing conservative Jose Antonio Kast and left-wing socialist Gabriel Boric remain the two frontrunners to make it through to the second round of the Chilean presidential election. The final polls released before the first round election, taking place 21 November, show Kast and Boric leading all other candidates.

Source: @americaelige, AtlasIntel, Activa/Pulso, UDD, Cadem. N.b. Kast = black, Boric = maroon/green, Sichel = yellow/blue, Provoste: red/yellow, Parisi = Grey, Enríquez-Ominami = Red
- Should Kast and Boric make it through to the second round it would present Chilean voters with candidates at the polar opposites of the political spectrum, with Kast a hardline social conservative anti-globalist and Boric a far-left former student activist. There remains the notable prospect of social unrest in the run-up to and aftermath of the election given the febrile political environment already evident in Chile.
- The constitutional convention, currently in the process of writing a new constitution for the country, has proved controversial. A second round campaign running through to December involving Kast and Boric runs the risk of turning very negative very quickly.
- Given that there are still two weeks until the first round vote there is no guarantee the current frontrunners make it through, Should any of the moderates such as Sebastian Sichel from the centre-right Chile Vamos or Yasna Provoste from the centre-left New Social Pact make it through it would notably reduce political risks.
