US TSYS/RESEARCH: Nomura N.American head of rates research George Goncalves and
team noted that "there have been plenty of counter arguments in 2017 about why
(US) long-end rates would not rise in this cycle; we will not go into those
points here."
- "Instead, we find "The Doors" as inspiration to the clear break on through to
the other side of 2.40% on UST-10s," they said. "Our view has been there is
nothing magical in 2.40% or 2.60% 10-yr USTs."
- They said that "we will only start to question how much further 10s can go
once we get into a 2.75-3% range, for now. We have kept our underweight
intermediate duration bias since June, and have not made major adjustments to
our rate forecasts, which are higher than market forwards."
