Norway's DNO Flags Kurdistan Debt Dispute

OIL

International oil companies operating in Iraqi Kurdistan will not produce oil for pipeline exports from the region until overdue payments are received according to Norway’s DNO that operate in the region.

  • Members of APIKUR would not restart pipeline exports until "it is clear how they will be paid for their contractual entitlements of oil already sold and delivered for exports and for future sales of such oil for exports", DNO said.
  • The Iraq/Turkey pipeline has been closed since March.
  • Negotiations on the pipeline restart are still ongoing and show no signs of being resolved in the short term.
  • The debt repayment issue to international companies operating in the region is separate to the pipeline closure dispute between Iraq and Turkey.
