Norway’s Sverdrup Field Output to Remain Steady to 2025

Production at Equinor’s Johan Sverdrup oilfield, the largest in the North Sea, is expected to be steady in 2024, according to Aker BP, cited by Reuters.

  • "The operator expects to be able to maintain the current elevated production level until late 2024 or early 2025," Aker BP said.
  • They said production for this year is likely to be around 410k-440k boe/d, compared to 457k boe/d in 2023.
  • Sverdrup’s production was increased to 755k b/d in 2023, above the originally planned 660k b/d following the onset of the second phase development.
  • The field was estimated to hold reserves of 2.7b bbl as of Oct. 2019 and produces medium-heavy crude similar to Urals.
  • An additional eight wells at Sverdrup are due online this year.
