NSC Spox Kirby To Brief Press On "High Altitude Objects"


White House National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby is shortly due to join the White House press conference to provide an update on the Administration's response to the three "high altitude objects" shot down by the US military over the weekend.

  • Kirby said today that US officials have spoken to Chinese counterparts in “private settings” to voice concerns about the suspected surveillance balloon operation but military-to-military communication between the US and China remains closed.
  • Kirby also said that a Chinese allegation that the US was engaged in similar surveillance operations was, "not true. Not doing it. Just absolutely not true. We are not flying balloons over China."
