KIWI: NZD/USD last seen at $0.6881, almost unch. on the day, after adding 25
pips Tuesday, as kiwi was driven by AUD & CNH spillovers.
- Initially, the post-RBA minutes AUD weakness dragged NZD/USD to intraday lows
of $0.6815, before the NY open brought some respite for the pair. This was
followed by further gains on the back of BBG reports that the U.S. insists on
Beijing giving assurances of future yuan stability in the course of the ongoing
bilateral trade talks.
- Worth mentioning NZ FinMin Robertson told MNI that NZ and the EU will not
compromise on the need to obtain a quality trade deal, even if it means missing
their end of year target for a comprehensive agreement. He also underlined NZ's
willingness to reach a post-Brexit free trade deal with the UK. For the full
piece see MNI Main Wire at 12:14 GMT 02/19.
- Bulls look to yesterday's high of $0.6888, ahead of the psychological $0.6900
figure. Conversely, the initial bearish attention is drawn to the upper 1.0%
10-DMA envelope at $0.6875 and a break below would open up Tuesday's low.
