OIL: OPIS Survey Points to Ongoing Tepid Gasoline Demand

Early returns from the actual US gasoline retailers in OPIS Volume Survey indicate a shaky week for US gasoline demand, according to OPIS founder Tom Kloza via X.
- This week’s gasoline demand looks around 8.5m b/d or less, compared to the 2016-2019 average for this period of above 9m b/d.
- U.S. retail gasoline demand saw a fall of 2.2% for the week ending September 21 (Sun-Sat) according to GasBuddy. GasBuddy models U.S. gasoline demand for that week at 8.65m b/d.
- Gasoline inventories are expected to have fallen by just 0.02m bbl, according to a Reuters survey. The WSJ survey saw gasoline stocks falling by 0.5m bbl.
