OIL OPTIONS: WTI Sep24 Option Expiry – Thu 15 August 24

OIL OPTIONS
  • A total of 836mbbls of open WTI crude September 24 options positions on CME and ICE are currently due to expire against the September future close tomorrow. Current aggregate open interest is 467k call contracts and 369k puts.
  • The aggregate open interest across all WTI options on both exchanges has increased relative to a month ago, especially for call options. Call open interest is up to 1.86m and put option open interest to 1.49m.
  • The most significant open exposures of interest near the current futures market price are 13k of puts and 19k of calls at the $80/bbl strike price and 27k of puts and 12k of calls at the $75/bbl strike.
