ONS Detail Further Tweaks to This Week's Labour Market Data

UK

UK ONS issue a further notice on this week's labour market data, writing that it will not be publishing the unadjusted June-August LFS data as planned on Tuesday this week:

  • The ONS is "transitioning to better methods of data collection fit for the digital age"
  • The change means "some temporary disruption as traditional surveys are updated or replaced"
  • This effectively means that tomorrow, a new series using additional data sources will be published, covering adjusted levels and rates for employment, unemployment and inactivity.
  • The unadjusted August LFS data will NOT be published.
  • For anyone who watches UK data particularly closely and wants the specifics, the ONS tells MNI the following will be published Tuesday:
  • Table A01 will be published, but will not contain any LFS data for June-August 2023. As well as already-published figures for earnings and vacancies, it will also have new labour disputes data.
  • CLA01 is published as usual. The following tables are being published on the website under the employment overview: A01, HR1, LABD, CLA01, CLA02, CLA03, A10 and X10.
