Orban Says Brussels' Affairs Must Be Put in Order

  • Brussels' affairs must be put in order and the European Parliament elections next year will offer a good opportunity for that, Prime Minister Orban said in an interview to Mediaworks over Christmas. "The EU has gradually weakened over the past years… it has been unable to substantially move forward in boosting its self-defence capabilities and to tackle the conflicts in its vicinity in line with its own interests," he said.
  • The Hungarian economy is seeing "more and more encouraging results, but under no circumstances can we sit back", Economic Development Minister Nagy told Vilaggazdasag in an interview cited by MTI. Not only had the government protected jobs, but employment continued to rise and the number of registered jobseekers fell to a historic low this year, Nagy added.
