Orr Pushing Back Against Recent Hawkish Repricing?

RBNZ

It would seem that RBNZ Governor Orr is keen to walk back any hawkish interpretations from this week's MPS/remit tweak, he will be more than cognisant of the moves in the NZ interest rate markets and their cross market influences on the NZ$. Headlines have been hitting BBG over the last 20 minutes or so:

  • Remit targets are unchanged.
  • Commitment to prolonged stimulus remains.
  • Could stimulate further with a negative OCR if required.
  • House prices not one of RBNZ's targets.
  • Financial stability policies can aid the government's housing objectives.
