Pekarova Adamova Stays On As TOP09 Leader, Czechia To Report Current Account Balance

  • Finance Minister Zbynek Stanjura said that the downward revision to the official macroeconomic forecasts unveiled on Friday were caused by a slowdown in household consumption due to elevated inflation. The Ministry's David Pusvic, one of the main authors of the updated forecasts, noted that "we have one of the biggest declines in real wages".
  • TOP09 party re-elected Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marketa Pekarova Adamova as its leader on Saturday, which puts her in the position to match or exceed the tenure of the party's co-founder Karel Schwarzenberg, who passed away on Sunday. Pekarova Adamova will lead TOP09 to four elections over the next two years.
  • The CNB will release current-account data at 09:00GMT/10:00CET. Consensus looks for a deficit of CZK15.00bn, according to a Bloomberg poll of analysts.
