Peru Central Bank Review – Feb 2024: Keeping It Cautious

PERU
  • Peru’s central bank board continued its cautious approach to the monetary easing cycle, deciding to cut the reference rate by 25bps to 6.25 percent. Importantly, the statement continued to note that “this decision does not necessarily imply a sequence of interest rate reductions” and that future moves “will be conditional on new information about inflation and its determinants.”
  • Peru central bank chief economist Adrian Armas holds the usual press conference following the decision today at 1200 local time.
  • The next monetary policy meeting/decision is scheduled for March 07.
