Petrobras CEO Dismissed Amid Fuel Price Disputes, Guedes In Paris

  • Petrobras CEO Silva E Luna has been fired and Brazil has appointed Pires to replace him.
    • Brazil government published a list of nominees for the Petrobras board and appointed economist Adriano Pires to replace general Joaquim Silva e Luna as company’s CEO, according to statement from Energy Ministry. (BBG)
    • Government also appointed Luiz Rodolfo Landim as chairman.
  • President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to a military hospital in Brasilia Monday to undergo tests after feeling unwell, local press reported.
    • Bolsonaro, 67, was absent from an evening event organized by the Republican Party which he had been slated to attend.
    • Headlines this morning from Globo suggest the President has now been discharged from the hospital after spending the night.
  • Economy Minister Guedes is in Paris meeting with businessmen and OECD officials. He is due to give a press conference at 4.30pm local time.
