FED: Philadelphia Fed president Harker interviewed on CNBC. Says Fed is 'pretty
much where we need to be', with growth 'exactly what we had anticipated'.
- Says he was 'somewhat reluctantly' in support of July`s cut. Doesn't see case
for further stimulus.
- Yield curve 'one of many' signals for economic outlook.
- Says Fed needs to keep powder dry to have space to move in event of a
downturn. Would be more worried about tariffs if consumption weakened as a
result.
- Harker says didn't think July cut was appropriate but 'went along with it',
but 'on hold right now'.
- Re market pricing, 'doesn't really factor in my decision, have to look at real
economy'. Re communications problem? 'Absolutely'.
