Poland To Offer Mortgage Borrowers 3bn PLN of Credit Vacation in 2022/2023

  • Yesterday, PM Morawiecki told a news conference that Poland will offer mortgage borrowers 3bn PLN worth of credit vacation in 2022 and 2023.
  • Warsaw bourse mentioned in an email that GPW Benchmark, unit of Warsaw Stock Exchange, has finished consultations of new reference rates for interbank market and will start publishing new benchmarks next week (BBG).
  • Polish government mentioned earlier this year that it will push banks into using an alternative to WIBOR for mortgage loans as of 2023 to a new benchmark rate that tracks more closely the NBP policy rate.
  • According to the government spokesperson Muller, it will lower interest paid on loans by over 1bn PLN.
