Poland To Sign Grain Deal With Ukraine Monday

  • The Agriculture Ministry said in a statement that the signing of a Polish-Ukrainian grain export deal has been postponed until Monday amid the need to fine-tune some details. The influx of cheap Ukrainian grain into the Polish market caused backlash from local producers, leading to the dismissal of Poland's Agriculture Minister.
  • The Constitutional Tribunal scheduled a hearing on a key court law needed to unlock EU funding for May 30, but it remains uncertain whether the judicial body will be able to rule in the case. Several judges continue to boycott proceedings as they believe that Chief Justice Julia Przylebska's term has expired.
  • Parliament rejected a no-confidence motion against Education Minister Przemyslaw Czarnek last night. Lawmakers will today vote on a plan to introduce subsidised 2% mortgage loans.
