  • Fall budget update offered limited moves to ease housing crisis while penciling in bigger deficits over the next five years. Media reports suggested it would do little to turn around sagging Liberal fortunes.
  • Housing Minister Sean Fraser tells Senate hearing “we’re in a national housing crisis” and the government will roll out ad hoc policies to build the millions of needed units. “We can bring Canada’s national housing crisis to an end” even as “we need to blow through the all-time record" on the pace of homebuilding to succeed.
  • Polling aggregator 338Canada shows Conservatives likely to win a majority government if an election were held now. Election is due in 2025 under a traditional four-year mandate but the Liberals rely on NDP to pass confidence motions and avoid an earlier campaign.
