Potential Cabinet Reshuffle in Focus

  • The President’s office has confirmed that changes will be made to the government today, according to a statement. Little detail on what ministers could be changed here, but will be a focus for markets later today. Recall earlier this week the government shook up their campaign team in order to regain traction in sliding opinion polls as the lead ahead of the opposition was trimmed.
  • Reports of party infighting have been relative widespread, with deputy chair Brudzinski already promoted to replace Poreba as campaign leader - after the latter stepped down at the end of last week. There has also been some speculation that Kaczynski - leader of PiS - could return to frontline government as deputy PM.
  • Pension reform is a hot topic in local press, with DGP writing that the PiS are to consider options on granting pensions based on the number of years worked, modifying existing rules that grant retirement after 44 years of work for men, and 39 years for women. The new approach would exclude periods when pension premiums were not paid.
  • May PPI, industrial output, wages & employment data cross at 09:00BST/10am local time. PPI expected at +4.7% Y/Y vs +6.8% prior; industrial output expected at -3.0% Y/Y vs. -6.4% prior; avg gross wages expected at +12.6% Y/Y vs. +12.1% prior; employment expected at +0.5% Y/Y vs. +0.4% prior.
