DOLLAR: ### POV: IS THE OUTLOOK FOR THE USD CHANGING TO POSITIVE?
Are we beginning to see the first signs that the attitude toward the Usd is
changing? Short positioning in the Usd seen stretched over recent weeks, this
despite strong US data, Fed to hike rates again in December(some changing their
view for more hikes in 2018 from 2 to 3) and the passage of the US Tax Bill
through the Senate. Traders have begun to report that hedge funds look to be
showing appetite for the Usd again, though so far meeting supply from the Real
Money sector. Hedge funds often take the lead in a change of direction with Real
Money seen as the oil tanker, in that they take longer to change course. These
initial signs could suggest that the Usd will end the year on a stronger note
and likely to continue into 2018. Friday's US Employment Report in focus, seen
as the first 'clean' jobs data following the recent disruption cause by
hurricanes with market median for NFP seen at 197k. A number above 175k expected
to be taken as positive.
