POWER: Polish Suppliers Join Westinghouse in Major Step for First Nuclear Plant
POWER
Poland’s first nuclear power plant has taken a significant step forward as Polish suppliers join the project, following initial orders placed by Westinghouse in October, operator PEJ said today.
- Contracts include meeting nuclear safety standards, preparing documentation, and producing components for AP1000 reactor modules.
- Westinghouse emphasised building a strong Polish supply chain and supporting the project in collaboration with its consortium partner, Bechtel.
- Additionally, PEJ aims for significant domestic participation in the supply chain to maximise local economic benefits.
- Poland is eyeing a total nuclear capacity of around 6-9GW in the upcoming decades, with the first reactor coming online by 2035.
