POWER: Spanish Power Demand Up 3% On Year

Spain’s power demand climbed by 3% on the year in August, with total demand at around 22.34TWh over the month, with solar leading the generation mix for the fourth consecutive month, TSO Red Electrica said.

  • Over Jan-Aug, Spain’s total demand was at 165.80TWh, 0.8% more than in the same period in 2023, however, adjusting for temperatures and working hours demand grew by 1.3%.
  • Renewable output was at 12.34TWh last month, 13.6% more than in August 2023, and made up 52.6% of Spain's gen mix.
  • Solar leads the national mix, with 23% of the total - producing about 5.4TWh. about 20.8% more than in August 2023.
