POWER

TVO’s nuclear power generation from its three Olkiluoto nuclear reactors in Finland stood at 16.82TWh in the first nine months of this year, down from 17.62TWh in the same period in 2023, it said.

  • OL1 net output decreased by 9.1% on the year to 4.985TWh. This is equal to an 85.3% load factor, compared with 94.3% in 2023.
  • OL2 net power generation increased to 5.09TWh in Jan-Sept this year, up from 4.9TWh in the same period last year, with the load factor rising to 87.2% from 84.3% last year.
  • The 890MW OL2 reactor halted 9 September until 6 October due to an increase in humidity at the turbine plant’s generator. Output resumed lower at 725MW which is currently scheduled until 25 May 2025.
  • OL3 power generation output decreased to 6.75TWh in the first nine months of this year, down from 7.23TWh last year, with the load factor falling to 65.5% compared with 68.4%.
  • Since 1 Sept, 1.6GW OL3 has been part of the down-regulation market of Fingrid’s frequency restoration reserve. Capacity is currently curtailed by 30MW until end February next year.
