Preliminary Q4 GDP Data Due

  • The national statistics institute will publish preliminary Q4 GDP data at 1200GMT(0700ET), with y/y growth expected to slow to 3% from 3.3% in the previous quarter. Later today, Mexico’s Finance Ministry will hold a press conference to discuss public finances, the state of the economy and debt during 4Q (1730GMT/1230ET). Also today, weekly international reserve data will be published at 1500GMT.

  • In other news, presidential frontrunner Claudia Sheinbaum’s saw her lead cut by 6 points, according to the latest poll from El Financiero released yesterday. However, she still holds a 16-point lead over her main opponent Xochitl Galvez, with 48% of voting intentions vs. 32% for Galvez.
