President-Elect Marcos To Nominate BSP Gov Diokno For Finance Dept Chief

Philippines President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will tap Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno as the new Finance Secretary, Bloomberg reports citing a person familiar with the matter.

  • It is understood that Marcos will officially announce the decision and name Diokno's successor as central bank chief later today.
  • Diokno's term in office expires in the middle of next year. He had previously served as the Budget Minister, before moving to the central bank in 2019.
