Presidential Election Double Hater Voter Bloc Could Be As Large As 25%

US

A new surveyfrom the Pew Research Center has found that young voters are more likely to belong to the “double hater” bloc – a group which views both Biden and Trump unfavourably and is likely to play a crucial role in determining the winner of the presidential election in November.

  • Pew: “Roughly a quarter of Americans (26%) hold unfavorable views of both Trump and Biden… Younger adults are particularly likely to be “double negatives.” About four-in-ten adults ages 18 to 29 (41%) have an unfavorable opinion of both Biden and Trump. In comparison, three-in-ten adults ages 30 to 49 and fewer than two-in-ten of those 50 and older dislike both men.”
  • Pew's survey further suggests that the 'double hater' bloc may be even larger than the 19% reported by recent polls from theMarquette Law School, NYT-Siena Collegeand Morning Consult.
  • Politico notes that this group, "might be the most important group in the 2024 election," with the eventual winner likely to be determined by who can best compel the group to cast their vote.
