Prime Minister Trudeau To Deliver Remarks On US-Canada Relations


Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in New York today to deliver remarks on US-Canada relations at an event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations think tank .

  • Trudeau will be building upon last month's visit to Ottawa from US President Joe Biden where the two leaders unveiled a joint strategy for the extraction, development and processing of critical minerals.
  • CTV: "Experts say would-be investors and developers now want to hear how Canada plans to streamline the regulatory process in order to capitalize on the country's underground riches."
  • White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said yesterday in a major policy speech that the US-Canada deal is a key element of the US strategy to secure critical supply chains.
  • Sullivan: "...we are leveraging the Inflation Reduction Act to build a clean-energy manufacturing ecosystem rooted in supply chains here in North America, and extending to Europe, Japan, and elsewhere."
