Qatar Sign 15 Year Deal with Excelerate to Supply LNG to Bangladesh

QatarEnergy has signed a deal with Excelerate Energy Inc to supply LNG to Bangladesh for 15 years according to Bloomberg.

  • The agreement is for 850k tons per year of LNG from 2026, increasing to 1m tons a year from 2028, according to a statement.
  • Excelerate has a 15-year deal to supply LNG to state-run Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corp.
  • This is the latest deal from Qatar following supply deals with Shell Plc, TotalEnergies SE, Eni SpA and China’s Sinopec.
  • Qatar is planning to boost LNG capacity by 64% to 126m tons a year by 2027 but is still to find buyers for more than half of the new capacity according to Bloomberg.
