Record US Airs Travel Forecast for Thanksgiving

Major US airlines and TSA expect record air travel for the Thanksgiving holiday period.

  • Airlines for America (representing major US airlines) forecasts 29.9 million passengers will fly between Nov. 17-27 - an all-time high and up 9% over the 27.5 million in the same period last year. The forecast is up 1.7 million passengers over pre-COVID record levels.
  • It said Nov. 26 will be a record-setting air travel day with 3.2 million passengers. US airlines are offering 253,000 additional seats per day on average over 2022.
  • TSA expects to screen 30 million passengers in the 12-day period ending Nov. 28 – a record level.
