WASHINGTON (MNI) - President Donald Trump's nomination for vice chairman of
regulation at the Federal Reserve Board, Randal Quarles, on Wednesday said "some
refinements" were in order for the policies enacted in the wake of the financial
crisis.
"As with any complex undertaking, after the first wave of reform, and with
the benefit of experience and reflection, some refinements will undoubtedly be
in order," Quarles said in a statement prepared for his Senate Banking Committee
confirmation hearing Thursday.
He did not go into specifics and did not comment on economic outlook or
monetary policy.
He is expected to answer questions from the Senate committee starting
around 10 a.m. Thursday.
If the committee votes to send his nomination to the Senate floor, he will
need to secure majority support to be installed as a vice chair and governor at
the Fed.
