NORTH KOREA
NORTH KOREA: Reports from South Korea's Yonhap News that an explosion has been
heard from the North Korean border town of Kaesong. Media reports that the
inter-Korean liaison office may have been blown up by North Korean forces.
- On Saturday, NK leader Kim Jong-Un's sister Kim Yo-Jong warned that the south
could face the "tragic scene of the useless North-South joint liaison office
completely collapsed."
- The move comes in retaliation to a campaign of North Korean defectors sending
balloons with anti-Pyongyang messages back across the border from the South.
- The North has threatened further retaliation, and could seek to push troops
into demilitarized zones in a major escalation in tensions along the 38th
parallel.
