--EZ retail sales came in slightly stronger than markets expected in Sep,
posting a 0.1% m/m gain. 
--This leaves the annual rate at 3.1% which is the strongest since Nov 2017 
--On a quarterly basis, retail sales decelerated further to 0.5% in Q3 following
Q2's 0.6% rate 
--Aug's figures have revised up both on a monthly (from 0.3% to 0.6%) and on an
annual (from 2.1% to 2.7%) basis. 
--Sep's slowdown was led by a decline of food, drinks & tobacco (-0.4%) sales. 
--Meanwhile, sales of non-food products (0.1%) decelerated in Sep and automotive
fuels (0.4%) posted a monthly increase. 
--The largest m/m gains have been recorded in Ireland (2.4%), Lithuania and
Austria (both 0.6%), while the sharpest declines were registered in Portugal
(-2.4%), Latvia (-1.0%) and Slovenia (-0.7%).
