Two separate opinion polls show the right-wing populist Reform UK scoring its highest levels of support on record in what will come as a significant concern for the gov't of Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
- Westminster Voting Intention: Labour: 49% (-2), Conservative: 26% (-1), Reform UK: 9% (+3), Liberal Democrat: 7% (=), Greens: 5% (+2), SNP: 3% (-1) Fieldwork Omnisis, 10-11 Nov. Changes w/ 3-4 Nov.
- Westminster Voting Intention: Labour: 42% (-5), Conservative: 21% (=), Liberal Democrat: 9% (-1), Greens: 9% (+2), Reform UK: 8% (+3), SNP: 5% (=) Fieldwork People Polling, 9 Nov. Changes w/ 1 Nov.
- While two polls do not necessarily indicate a longstanding trend, if these sort of numbers were reflected in a general election it would almost certainly eliminate the Conservatives' (presently slim) prospects of retaining a parliamentary majority.
- Under the UK's first-past-the-post electoral system, strong support for Reform UK risks splitting the vote on the right with the Conservatives, allowing more centre-left Labour MPs to be elected in 2024.
