Rumours abound surrounding the prospect of the...>

UK
UK: Rumours abound surrounding the prospect of the government asking the Queen
to prorogue (suspend) parliament today.
- The actual suspension of parliament could not happen today, as the Order of
Council would need to be read in both Houses of Parliament, but neither house
returns from summer recess until September 3.
- More likely scenario is that the Queen could be informed today that at some
point in the future she will be asked to prorogue parliament.
- Should the government prorogue parliament at the earliest opportunity
(September 3),and hold a new Queen's Speech on the rumoured date of October 14,
parliament will effectively be denied the opportunity to halt a no-deal Brexit.
