Russia Crude Exports to Europe Fall Again

OIL

Russia’s seaborne crude exports to European countries is gradually falling ahead of the EU sanctions. Exports to Europe fell for a fourth week, dropping by 56kbpd to 604kbpd, led by a drop in shipments to Italy.

  • On Dec 5 the EU introduces their ban on seaborne Russian crude imports and the US led price cap starts. Under the cap buyers of Russian crude could use European ships, insurance, and other services, but only if the price they pay is below a certain threshold.
  • Russia have warned of a possible production cut because of the G7 price cap and said it won’t sell its oil to anyone who imposes a cap. Total Russian seaborne exports were steady this week at just below 3mbpd.
