Russia looks to deepen energy ties with Africa​

Russian President Vladimir Putin told the BRICS summit that the country intends to deepen ties with African countries and remain a stable partner on food and energy.

  • Putin said that Russia had over 30 ongoing energy projects in African countries, adding that Russian fuel supplies would help African governments to contain price rises.
  • "Over the past two years, exports to Africa of Russian crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied natural gas have increased by 2.6 times," he said.
  • Putin also said there are no alternatives to oil, gas, and other hydrocarbon fuels globally for the foreseeable future.
